There are increasing numbers of isolated people in Wokingham, especially in the older age groups. We are partnering with ‘The Link Visiting Scheme’ (see www.linkvisiting.org for full details) and other churches across the Borough to “Visit people in the community who feel isolated and to offer friendship, support and information. “ We have volunteers from the church who are engaged in regular visits.

Practically this involves visiting for an hour or so each week or once a fortnight. We are covering various communities which make up our local area and would welcome more volunteers.

Marjie Walker is the Link Visiting co-ordinator and is developing this scheme across the Borough. At present there are over 100 volunteers engaged in regular visits.
