Cell
is
the name we give to the small groups in the church and they are key to
the life of the church. To be committed to Kings Church Wokingham you
need to be in agreement with our vision and values and committed
to a small group |
Healthy cells
in a body multiply to form
identical cells, so that our bodies remain healthy and grow. All the cells work
together to enable our bodies to function as a whole. So a
healthy cell group is where we experience the
intimacy of God’s love through close friendships and encouragement, helping us
to grow. The Sunday Morning Celebration is when
all the cells join together, to experience the majesty of God’s love in a bigger
setting, and to be reminded of the ‘big picture’ of God’s purposes for us and
His world.

Cell is about relationships,
not just a meeting, although meeting regularly is important. Over a period of
time a balanced diet is experienced in the cell meeting and cell social
activities. Welcome is about ‘ice-breakers’ that
enable us to get to know each other. Worship is
about lives surrendered to God, focussing on His presence, and experiencing
spiritual gifts. Word is a discussional study
time following up what was preached on Sunday. Witness
is a time of praying and strategizing how together we can bring our family and
friends to Christ.

Size-wise
a cell starts with 6 – 8 people
and when it reaches 16 – 20 people, multiplies into 2 groups. The assistant
leader from the original group takes on the new group.
The
cell group focus
is about loving God, loving each other and reaching out with God’s love
to others. As such the cell group is the basic Christian community in
the church. This means that as the church grows, people can still feel
they belong, are cared for, and are spurred on as they seek to live out
their daily lives for God. This is achieved by fostering good
relationships, developing our spiritual lives, and reaching out to our
families, friends, work and leisure colleagues and neighbours
