Gateway Course

If you want to become a committed member of Kings Church Wokingham you will be invited to attend a 5 week programme which we call the Gateway Course.

This course is usually led by an elder with others in leadership roles attending on weeks specific to their areas of responsibility.

The subjects covered are:

1. Why we are doing what we are doing as a church

2. Our Values and Priorities

3. The Kingdom of God and us

4. Leadership and Participation

5. Cells in the Real World

Each week comprises teaching and interaction. We want you to know what we think about these subjects, and we want to understand what you think about them. Here is an outline of each week.

1. Why we are doing what we are doing as a church

In this session we look at:

- our history

- the message we have received and want to spread

- the uniqueness of the christian message

- a statement of our beliefs

2 Our values and Priorities

- What is our vision

- What are the values that come out of vision

- What are our distinctives

3 The kingdom of God - understanding we are citizens of heaven

- We have a new identity as Christians, with a new mission, resources and commitment

- How we make that count in the world we live in

4. Leadership and Participation - finding the balance

- We consider the different types of leadership described in the Bible and how we apply that today

- We also consider the importance of "every member" working together in the church

5. Cells in the Real World

- Why small groups matter

- How we apply the cell principles here in Kings Church
